URGENT: VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR – HOEDSPRUIT AREA
The minimum requirement is:
(1) must be a South African citizen,
(2) valid driver’s license
(3) competent driving a 4WD
(4) experience with managing people / students,
(5) an entry level qualification in nature conservation (Diploma Nature Conservation / BSc),
(6) FGASA Level 1, THETA / DEAT Registration, PDP, First Aid Level 1
(7) fluency in Zulu / Shangaan and Afrikaans is a definite advantage.

This is a unique opportunity for a suitably qualified and dedicated individual to be the Volunteer / Student Coordinator for a ground-breaking community conservation organisation.
The Volunteer Coordinator is required to be responsible for up to 8 volunteers at a time, that stay for 2 to 12 weeks as part of the conservation volunteering team.
Duties would include assisting with the following:
(i) Coordination of the daily activities of up to 8 volunteers,
(ii) Assisting with predator tracking & monitoring;
(iii) Coordinate volunteer participation in the cultural development / community-based program;
(iv) Participation when predators are immobilized for veterinary treatment;
(v) Assisting the farm manager / assistant farm manager when applicable with wildlife / habitat management;
(vi) Providing research data to the ecologist;
(vii) Assisting with volunteer excursions such as into Kruger Park or on the Panoramic Route;
(viii) Assisting with film crews & VIP visitors
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: R5000 / month
Accommodation: Provided in a farmhouse on the conservancy; must provide and cook own meals
OVERVIEW OF THE CONSERVATION VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM
The volunteers are actively involved in assisting with predator monitoring / tracking, habitat management, other aspects of conservation management, and eco-education within the local Tsonga community, as part of the organisation’s work to conserve free-roaming predators within their natural endemic habitat in the Greater Kruger region of South Africa. The volunteers also have the opportunity to partake in additional off-site activities and excursions within the region.
