Tertiary degree needed for work permits for non-residents/citizens of Botswana
Salary is BWP 18,000 negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include full board and lodging while on duty, full Medical aid and annual return flights to South Africa plus additional benefits. Leave structure 3 months on, 28 days off.
An established luxury safari company is looking for a Technical Services/Maintenance Manager who can oversee all technical maintenance aspects of the lodge and habitat preservation within the company’s concession.
Mature candidate with tertiary qualifications in Technical Maintenance Related fields of expertise and or Wildlife Management / Tourism or other relevant and minimum 6 years relevant experience in the Lodge Industry in Concession or Maintenance Management. Requires proven ability to oversee all technical maintenance aspects including vehicle fleet, boats, generators, STP and Water Treatment Systems, Solar and Electrical, and be able to project manage. Requires good eye for detail, accurate stock control ability and reporting, can do attitude, sound budgeting and planning ability. Has an understanding of conservation principles locally and internationally and is familiar with fauna, flora, climate, history, geography, geology. Can identify firearms, their use and safety aspect. Must be willing to live in remote wilderness areas for extended periods and work under pressurised conditions. Able to drive vehicles, safari vehicles, supply trucks etc. on all types of road surfaces (deep sand, mud etc). Driver’s license essential and computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Office
The position will be bush based but candidate is expected to travel frequently to the company’s head office in Maun and other camps as required. Reporting to the General Manager and Technical Services and Operations Managers and Operations Director.
Supervision of central workshop and Supervision of maintenance of all vehicles, buildings and equipment at the Camp. This will be achieved in conjunction with and through the Direct supervision of the maintenance and grounds teams, and mechanic team.
Supervision and daily maintenance of the Solar Plant and battery bank, and standby Generators. Fault finding and reporting/liaison to/with the Solar Consultant technicians.
Supervision and maintenance of the STP and Water Treatment Plants and reticulation systems.
Supervision of the Maintenance stores and R&M Par Stocks
Supervision of the Company’s Training Programme within the concession.
Supervision and implementation of the camp’s Timber Treatment schedule
Environmental monitoring of the concession in conjunction with the guide and habitat teams. Includes monitoring and reporting on any poaching activities in the area.
Compiling of and submission of environmental reports to the relevant authorities as required,
Upkeep and maintenance of road network and other infrastructure within the concession.
Ensures that all staff comply with Company standards of conduct, attitude, efficiency, personal cleanliness and neatness,
Ensures that guest’s interests are considered and they are not exposed to any danger or threats whilst in camp or participating on an activity,
Specialised knowledge of First Aid, identification and treatment of minor injuries, knowledge of emergency procedures (radio calls etc)
Relief Management when Camp Managers are on leave and hosting of guests as and when required. This is not a primary function however and will only be required in emergency’s as most of the duties lie Back of House
Ensure compliance in health & safety protocols is maintained, as well as compliance in environmental practices in terms of the company’s Environmental Management Plans.
